Guidance
Tape and Reel Feeders
Always check your component data-sheet to determine manufacturer packaging options.
When purchasing feeders it comes down to the tape/reel size that the components are sold in by the manufacturer. For example, if we look at the tape/reel diagram for a typical flat terminal chip below. The tape width is 12mm (right-most dimension), requiring a 12mm feeder.
All Neoden machines will place the part without trouble, but you will need to use a cut-tape-strip, or waffle tray, as the method of delivery if the machine is not compatible with the feeder size. The tape or tray, is laid out in the placement area and the program told to find the component there in a grid or strip pattern.
Always check the component data-sheet
Steps to get up and running
- Generate a BoM for your PCB
- Establish component packaging sizing from data-sheets.
- Determine feeder requirements.
